Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; southern Alaska to California and New Mexico, east across southern Canada and northern U.S. to the Atlantic Coast.

Habitat: Mostly in mud, often where brackish, from sea level to mid-elevations in the mountains.
